From the open plains of the Maasai Mara, the shimmery pink waters of Lake Nakuru and the swamps of Amboseli, this safari takes in three of the most picturesque regions in Kenya. It is a superb chance to look for the Big Five and to photograph wildly different scenery. Four departures a week, tented camps or lodges, guaranteed for a minimum of two guests. Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrive Nairobi
Met at the airport and transferred to your hotel on bed and breakfast. Optional city or giraffe-centre excursion depending on arrival time.
- Day 2
Nairobi to the Maasai Mara
Descend the Rift escarpment past the Italian chapel and Longonot, cross Narok’s wheat country and reach the Mara in time for lunch and a first afternoon game drive.
- Day 3
Full day in the Mara
Dawn and afternoon game drives across the conservancy and reserve. Optional Maasai village visit at dusk.
- Day 4
Mara to Lake Nakuru
Travel the Rift floor watching for giraffe and gazelle, arriving at Nakuru or Elementaita for flamingos, rhino and Rothschild giraffe.
- Day 5
Nakuru to Amboseli
Early start via Nairobi (lunch en route) then south to Amboseli, arriving by late afternoon beneath Kilimanjaro.
- Day 6
Amboseli
Morning and afternoon game drives among elephant herds, swamps and the open dry lake — Kilimanjaro on a clear day.
- Day 7
Return to Nairobi
Last views of the mountain, then north across the Athi Plains to Nairobi for a midday drop-off or airport transfer.
