When to see the Great Migration (without the guesswork)

Guests still arrive asking for “the migration in July.” Sometimes that is perfect. Sometimes the river is quiet and the action is still on the short-grass plains. The wildebeest follow rain, not Instagram.

In short: calving is usually February in the southern Serengeti. The columns push north through the western corridor in May–June. Mara River crossings, when they happen, cluster from July into October — but a crossing is a morning’s luck, not a scheduled show.

We hold flexible camps and we watch the latest ranger reports. If you can give us a two-week window rather than a single date, your odds improve more than any extra dollar spent on a “guaranteed crossing” claim.

If your dates are fixed in January, we do not pretend. We build a cat-and-landscape safari in the Mara conservancies or central Serengeti that is excellent on its own terms.
