What to pack (and what your guide will laugh at)
Neutral layers, a proper binocular, and why camouflage print is a tourist tell.
Friends Life Adventure · March 2026
Soft colours: khaki, olive, stone, faded blue. Avoid white (dust) and military camouflage (it makes you look like you packed for a film set). Long sleeves beat mosquito spray at dusk.
A 10x42 binocular each is worth more than a new camera body. Your driver will stop; you still need to find the leopard in the sausage tree.
Evenings on the crater rim or in the Mara can be cold. A fleece and a light down layer earn their luggage weight. On the coast, the opposite: linen, reef-safe sunscreen, something for Stone Town’s dress code at night.
Leave drones at home unless you have written park permission — you will not get it at the gate.
