Gorilla permits, explained like a friend

A Bwindi or Mgahinga permit is not a ticket to see gorillas. It is a ticket to track them. The hour you spend with a habituated family is likely — not guaranteed — and that is written into every honest briefing.

Uganda Wildlife Authority currently prices a foreign-visitor permit at USD 600 per person, per trek. Once issued they are not refundable and not transferable. We need names exactly as in the passport, nationality and passport number before we can buy.

We ask for a 30% safari deposit; gorilla permits must be paid in full up front. If you are travelling in peak months (July–August, Christmas), we want those details the week you decide, not the month you fly.

Most of our Uganda itineraries put the trek mid-trip so you are already acclimatised to early starts, and so a second optional trek is still on the table if the first day is deep forest and little contact.
